And So It Begins

So, here it is.  The first post on my nail blog.  Still not sure how this all works.  I've been reading nail blogs for a couple of years now, ever since I decided it was time to stop biting the nails and start doing something more creative with them.  I searched for information on nail care and that led me to the knowledge that things like nail blogs actually existed.  I didn't know.  Had not that first clue.  But I learned a lot from the ones that I discovered, still do.  I just hope I can add something to what's already out there.

Perhaps I should begin by telling a bit about myself and why I want to take on what I know is probably a major endeavor.

I have a picture of my humble beginnings.

There's 21 polishes in this picture, the rest are top coats, base coats and treatments.  My first polish is that very light pink one next to the Sally Hansen HD.  It's Sally Hansen's Shell We Dance.  It kind of disappeared on me and I've only worn it once but I do still have it.

I now own more than 460 and just ordered my first indies.  So excited to get those.  I've decided that 2014 is the year I'll explore the world of independent polish makers - now that I probably own nearly the entire inventory at Walgreen's.  My wish list of indies is getting rather long at this point, though.  I'll be ordering that Helmer pretty soon, I'm thinking.

Reading all those nail blogs got me inspired to start practicing my 'pose' and taking pictures.  Not the best pictures to begin with since I was using the camera on my old, not so smart, phone.  Still don't have a camera but I do have a new smartphone with a camera app that seems to take pretty good pictures.

Not the best but not bad, either.  Really, I'm just testing things out here to see how they'll look when posted.  In case you're wondering, that's Cherimoya Subtle Flirt, bought at Walgreens by me for 99 cents.  I always say I'm not a pink kind of girl but I've sure been wearing the pinks lately.

So, yeah.  I still need to get educated on what this blogging thing is all about and how my blog will fit in - and get that lightbox built.

I just want share the joy that I find in being a nail polish obsessed person.  Sometimes I feel like that dog in Up, you know the one.  "Squirrel!"  Only for me it's, "Nail Polish!"  And considering the number of ladies (and gents) who blog about their own obsession, I am clearly not alone.  What can I say?  I love my nail polish.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned.
