But first, the nails of the day. I did these especially for a competition event at work called Red vs Green. However, I was disappointed to learn that red nails do not get points...they aren't clothes. Ok, accessories then. Still no dice. Ah, well. Life goes on.
There's just something special about red nail polish - especially one that has that inner glow of matching glitter. And this one is really special. Milani Ruby Jewels is just phenomenal. Just the right shade of Christmas red lit from within by just the right amount of red glitter. (Did I use enough 'just's in that paragraph do you think?)
Bottle shot -
This is the kind of polish that you just stare at. I don't know how they put the glitter in there so that it just glows but there it is, just glowing away. I only wish my camera would capture it correctly. This is pretty close, though, to how it appears in real life.
This is three coats, with base and top coat. The top coat really brought out the glow and actually deepened the color. The formula is good on this one. If my hands hadn't been shaky when it was going on, I could have probably gotten full coverage in two coats.
I know there are dups out there. I actually have one of them - Pure Ice Hit The Floor. I did a Fourth of July mani using it.
The blue is Pure Ice Deja Vu, the white is Salon Perfect Snow Flurry with Finger Paints Colorful Collage on top. Guess I didn't do a good clean up job on the blue, did I?
The other dup I can think of is China Glaze Ruby Pumps. I've seen it but don't own it - yet.
Ok, now for the nail mail -
Guess I should consider this my first haul post.
The polishes are (in order of appearance from left to right): Sally Hansen - Grape Going!; Literary Lacquers - As The Waltz Was Ending, A Thousand Christmas Trees, Shift of Fate. The water decals came from Moon Sugar - I'll be doing a special Christmas mani to wear for our work Holiday Luncheon using a white base color and some of the Christmas ones. And lastly, new crystal nail files made in the Czech Republic. I hear those are the best so I decided to get me some. There was also a two pack of Burts Bees Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Creme that didn't make it into the picture.
I immediately swatched the polishes on my nail wheel. The following pictures are mainly of the Literary Lacquers. The Sally Hansen is a pretty purple with a light blue shimmer and a shift to pink at the right angle. None of that appeared on camera but I did see it on the swatch. I did, however, manage to capture a bit of beauty from the other three.
Oh, my goodness! Just look at that holo effect. Pardon me while I drool for a second.
Again, left to right - As The Waltz Was Ending, Shift of Fate, A Thousand Christmas Trees - which was the free with purchase gift Amy sent along. Thank you, Amy. I'm thinking of redoing some accent nails with this one. You can see a bit of Grape Going! there in the lower left corner.
That's it for now. I still have the new L'Oreals to swatch along with these four and hopefully the Llarowe shipment will get here by the weekend. I'm looking forward to both of the polishes I got from Llarowe but one of them really has me anxious to see it in person. I'll give you a hint....Unicorn Pee dup! And now I'm wanting to dance around the room again!
Until then, thanks for reading and stay tuned.
