Thought I'd share what caused me to blow my bi-weekly nail polish budget this last couple of weeks. And blow it I certainly did. This isn't even everything I bought, either. There are two more shipments coming. Only three more bottles, though.
No, I tell a lie. Four more bottles to come, one of the Zoya's I got from the recent promo is on backorder.
Ok, another lie...I forgot about the extra savings code Zoya sent for the free bottle of Monet with two purchases of 2014 colors.
Yeah, I lost count. What?
First up is what I got during the recent Zoya 3 Free promo. I took the "spend $25 and get free shipping" option. Which, of course, meant I ordered six polishes. I received five - Dream is the one on backorder, darn it. But at least I'll have it at some point in the future. As for what actually arrived, here you go.
left to right: Edyta, Gemma, Lexi, Blaze and Julieanne
So, considering I got three free when I bought three, this is really Zoya at half price, right? Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Next, I hit Target to seek out the ELF concealer brush mentioned in this post for clean up use and picked up some NYC colors since they are less than a dollar. There I go rationalizing again.
left to right: Pink Bling, Starry Silver Glitter, Skyline Blue, Tudor City Teal,
Empire State Blue and Rock The Party!
Next was a trip to Sally's for acetone and nail wheels. Got the acetone, didn't get the nail wheels but did get some polish. Well, it was Sally's and how often do I get to go there? Yeah, not answering that one.
left to right: China Glaze All Wrapped Up, Dorothy Who? and Santa Red My List;
OPI Gargantuan Green Grape
I have been lemming for OPI Gargantuan Green Grape but alas, it doesn't look that great on me and the formula is really not fun to work with. But I think I can make it work with some nail art or something.
And finally, a trip to Walgreens netted me these.
left to right: Rimmel Magic Stardust, Golden Hour, Pulsating and Sunny Days
Maybelline Color Show Emerald City
The Walgreens I go to has just started selling the Rimmel's. I hope they continue because I've seen a lot of them on other blogs that I really would like to try. The color of the Maybelline really caught my eye. The glitter is more of a teal green than a true green and there's lot of holographic sparkle in there as well. Might even try it over Gargantuan Green Grape just to see what it looks like.
And now for the little something extra. I had to work Saturday morning and was still wearing my franken. The sun was out as I was leaving so I took a quick pic. The sun was coming through the driver's side so this of my right hand.
there's that holo I was looking for
Gee, is that enough polish, do you think? Of course, not. What a silly question! Then again, if I keep this up, I'll need to get three helmers when I go to IKEA in the spring instead of the two I'm planning to get. Don't ask me how many bottles I currently own because I have definitely lost count at this point. I'm in the process of swatching the stash by color on nail wheels so once I get done doing that, I might be able to answer that question.
Well, that's it for now. After test swatching, I believe I have finally settled on colors for the gradient. If I don't get it done through the week, this weekend for sure. Until then, thanks for reading and stay tuned.
