Tonight I have the beginning of my most ambitious nail art yet - Butterfly Wing Nails.
I've been watching tutorials all day and I even practiced a bit. Still not sure I'm going to do all my nails but I'm at least going to do one, anyway. I decided to do this in stages so tonight you get to see the base color.
I chose Literary Lacquers Tequila Mockingbird as the base color. I've swatched this before but this time, it's a full manicure - two coats of Orly Bonder with one generous coat of INM Out The Door. My first practice taught me that a coat of fast dry top coat in between stages will keep things clean. Without the top coat, the next stage just ended up messy.
First stage first.
On top of this gorgeous neon pink, I'm going to sponge Indie Go from I Love Nail Polish.
When I did this without the fast dry top coat, the sponge actually pulled up the pink without leaving much of the blue behind. With top coat, it worked much better.
I'll share the gradient Monday night then on Tuesday night, I'll be going this to at least one nail....
On my own nails, I'm hoping to see less black and more of the gradient. We'll all see how this all turns out Tuesday night.
Thanks for reading and stay tuned.
