Scarlet and Gray Skittle

Oh, hi! Happy Friday!

Been a while, hasn't it? Yeah, sorry about that. Been getting over the flu or whatever it was I had. Had being the operative word there.

Don't know of you've heard but The Ohio State Buckeyes are the National Champions. Being from Ohio, I'm a pretty big fan of the guys as well as proud of the team they have become under the guidance of Coach Meyer.

In honor of their achievement, I wanted to do my nails up in scarlet and gray. The polishes I chose were Literary Lacquers Lurid Fog, part of the 2014 Community collection, and Ellagee Bad Romance.

Lighting here is a combination of daylight lamp and LED - except for the one that is otherwise noted. Not the best combination as it turns out but I have other ideas and options to try. Anyway, I'll shut up now and just get to the pics, shall I?

Lurid Fog is a steel gray holographic that shifts to purple.

Bad Romance is a straight up red holographic.

Both of these photographed a bit lighter than they are on the nails. I used two coats of each with two coats of Orly Bonder underneath and one coat of Out The Door on top.

 LED light only

On my right hand, I did the colors opposite of the left.

I was hoping to get sun pictures today but the sun only came out for a bit this morning - when taking pictures was inconvenient - and then the middle fingernail on the famous hand decided to split, causing the polish to chip. I had somehow bent the corner and the top layer had cracked. I thought I had filed it down past the crack but apparently I hadn't. The polish came off tonight and all my nails got filed down to be even with the middle one. Back to nub city for Ten Penny Nails.

I hope to be back swatching soon. I just picked up today what appear to be new colors for Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear line as well as that lovely pale lavender holographic polish from L'Oreal, Masked Affair. That's in addition to a ton of other new polishes that I need to get swatched.

Got my work cut out for me, don't I?

But for now, thanks for reading and stay tuned.

Penny
