Reviewed: Pur Minerals Man From U.N.C.L.E. Web Promo Kit

Happy Friday!

Just got this in the mail today and couldn't wait to share it. I did purchase this myself, by the way. Just thought I would put that in since this is a promo kit.

Pur Minerals created this eye makeup kit inspired by the new movie, "The Man From U.N.C.L.E", which will be in theaters on August 14. The cast includes Henry Cavill as Napoleon Solo and Armie Hammer as Illya Kuryakin. Hugh Grant is also in the starring line up, playing Alexander Waverly.

As a kid born in 1960, I do remember watching the TV show - probably more from syndication rather than the original broadcast. Did anyone else have a huge crush on Napoleon Solo? I know I did. The show spawned a spin-off that starred Stephanie Powers, The Girl From U.N.C.L.E. That one only lasted one season, though.

The premise of this movie version sounds promising.

So the makeup kit came in this really cute packaging...

...with a card advertising the movie... well as eye makeup inspired by the movie.

Gonna make you wait to see the palette since it is the highlight of this collection. I'm just mean that way.

I will, however, start with that mascara.

I'm looking forward to trying this. It has Argan oil in it, which might do wonders for lashes. I know it does wonders for my hair.

The wand is the silicone version.

I'm on the fence about this type of wand. While the bristles are short enough that I don't get too much mascara on my eyelid, I'm not sure this type works as well as the fiber type to maximize volume. At least, that's my experience. I do like the way the silicone seems to separate my lashes so, trade off?

There are also two eyeliners.

The top one has two ends - one is a crayon type of liner and the other is a felt tip for liquid liner.

The color of this is called Queensland and is a lovely teal. The crayon seems to be more blue leaning while the liquid is more green.

The other liner is also a liquid with a felt tip and it's black.

I have another liquid liner with a felt tip that I have trouble with but this one seemed to go on much easier. I think the tip is fatter on this one. I'm hoping this one might be easier to use.

And finally, that palette.

I've been seeing a little bit about this palette and I think it's pretty nice.

The case is metal...

...and has a nifty clasp type closure.

This feature helps get the thing open. I sometimes have trouble opening my W7 palettes, which are also metal. A clasp like this would help.

The palette comes with a nice mirror and eight shadows as well as a surprisingly decent brush.

All of the shadows but the two on the left seem to be well pigmented.

You can barely see the two on the left but I promise you they are there. Not sure how well they will show up on the eye but I think they would both make good bases for any eye look you'd want to create. While the shadows are a bit on the powdery side, they do seem to be very blendable. I'll report back on that when I've used them.

As to that brush... seems to be a good, all-round brush. I used it to apply the shadows in the above picture and, as expected, the only shadows I had trouble with were the two lighter ones. I have brushes in a similar configuration and they are my favorites for applying shadow. Depending on the eye look I'm going for, I will use the same brush for almost everything.

I'm looking forward to creating some awesome eye looks using this kit. There are a ton of nude type shadow palettes out now but this one does seem to be a good mix of colors as well as finishes. I really like the eyeliners. I might even do a double liner with, dare I say it, a wing (gulp). I still find them scary, though.

That's it for today. Thanks for reading and stay tuned!
