In looking at the boxes I've yet to share, I realized that I had already reported on a product from this box without having actually shared the entire box. That would be the Dr. Brandt exfoliant so take that entry in light of the fact that I have tried it and like it.
I've also already used the lip crayon from LAQA&CO. On my lips only so far. Love the color.
So here is the post that I had already written. Unfortunately, I didn't think to swatch the polish when I took the pics. I will definitely have to have a swatching session when the damage to my nails grows out.
I’ve got the August Birchbox for you today. The monthly box goes for $10 a month. For that you will receive 4 to 5 deluxe samples for you to try. The yearly subscription price is $195 with two months free.
This month’s box is really special. Starting with the box itself.
I love the design on this one. I was also able to choose between two boxes for August. Inside this box are products chosen personally by Nicole Ritchie.
Starting with a microdermabrasion skin exfoliant from Dr. Brandt.
This at-home microdermabrasion product is supposed to mimic the effects of more expensive services in a dermatologist's office. Gotta admit, I’m a little afraid of this one. Not sure if it will aggravate my rosacea or not and things are coming along just fine with my current routine. I would hate to take a step backward if this does cause problems. Might give this one to my mom.
Full size of this product is 2 ounces and goes for a whopping $78. The sample size is .25 ounces so the value would be $9.75.
Next is a pretty lip and cheek crayon from LAQA & Co in the color Humble Brag.
I’ll definitely use this on my lips but not sure if I want it on my cheeks. A little too creamy for that, I think. At least for me.
The full size of this color goes for $22 on the website. This particular piece is part of a 3-piece set sold by Birchbox called Charm School Kit, which costs $20.00. The kit includes a coral peach called Cray-Cray and a ruby rouge called Mixtape.
From the OPI Venice Collection, I received My Gondola or Yours.
This looks black but has a subtle shimmer in it that softens the stark black. Kind of hard to tell what color the shimmer is, even swatched on a nail wheel. Sometimes it looks blue, sometimes it looks lavender.
The full 0.50 ounce size retails for $9.50. My sample size is 1/8 ounce, so the value is approximately $2.40.
From Rene Furterer, I received the LISSEA Leave-In Smoothing Fluid.
This product is supposed to protect hair during heat styling as well as taming frizz and flyaways.
Full size is 4.2 ounces and retails for $31.00. This half ounce sample would value at approximately $3.70.
And finally, from St. Tropez, I received the Gradual In-Shower tanning formula.
Not sure if I’ll use this one. I know self-tanners have changed over the years, but I don’t feel the need to be tanned.
Full size of this product is 6.7 ounces and retails for $25.00. This sample size is 1.6 ounces, so the estimated value would be $5.97.
Total estimated value of the box is $43.82. Since I have estimated the values of the samples in all cases but the lip crayon, this might be a bit low.
Still, just the lip crayon alone makes this box worthwhile. It is completely my color and I’ll enjoy wearing it.
Thanks for reading and stay tuned!
