FOTD Friday

Happy Friday!

This FOTD is from last Friday, when we had a family outing to get new phones. Dad’s had basically died and mine was doing the intermittent freezing thing. All of us had Windows phones, but I wanted to switch to Android since there are apps that I would like to have that aren’t Windows based.

We ended up with the Galaxy S6 and I am really happy with this phone so far. Mom and Dad are working to get used to something new. Dad more than Mom but it usually does take her a bit longer to give in. She doesn't like change, especially when it comes to technical stuff.

Anyway, since I was going to be spending time with my Dad, who isn’t a fan of makeup period, I decided to go a little more subtle than I usually do. These are the products I used.

To start with, I used my Real Techniques complexion sponge to apply a BB cream from ELF in the color Nude.

I really liked using the sponge with this BB cream. It went on so smooth even without a primer.

Next, I used Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser in Brightener.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - this is my go-to concealer of life. I love how this really brightens up my undereye and does a good job of concealing those under eye circles I tend to have.

To set everything, I used two powders from ELF - the SPF 45 Sunscreen powder and the HD Undereye Setting Powder.

The SPF powder does have some color to it but the color doesn't seem to show up after blending. The color is sort of a neutral beige. The HD Undereye Setting Powder has a slightly salmon color to it that works well with the Maybelline concealer.

For the rest of my face, I used the Milani Baked Bronzer in 04 Glow to warm up and highlight as well as a little bit of contouring action under my cheekbones.

I wasn't sure I would like this bronzer because of all of that shimmer but it ended up rather subtle. Well, I didn't look like a disco ball, at any rate.

For blush, I used a blush from ELF in the color Mellow Mauve.

This blush also has some shimmer to it but not too much. I really like how it just gave my cheeks a subtle rosy hue.

On to the eyes. After using the ELF Brow Kit in light....

...I used three of the L'Oreal Infallible shades on my eyes.

That's Endless Pearl on top then Amber Rush and Golden Sage left to right. I used Endless pearl as the base then Golden Sage on the lid and Amber Rush for the crease. All three went on with ease and I was done in a lot less time than usual. By the way, these had creased just a bit by the end of the day. Probably the fault of the eye cream I'm using at the moment. I did use a darker brownish green powder shadow to line the outer corners of my eyes. Just didn't get that into the pic.

I did use the new L'Oreal setting spray just before adding mascara.

After curling my lashes, I used Maybelline's Collossal Volum Express mascara in Classic Black.

This is a rather wet mascara with a strong scent but it didn't bother my eyes at all and I had no smudging or flaking at all by the end of the day.

For my lips, I used the ELF Moisturizing Lipstick in  Southern Bell.

This is a comfortable satin finish lipstick that goes on smooth and creamy. Because it's so creamy, it does come off more easily but is also easy to reapply.

And the entire look?

Not all that happy with my hair but I didn't have time to wash it. Those gray roots will be gone after next Wednesday - thank goodness.

I really liked the naturalness of this look and the way my skin looks so smooth beneath it all. I really think the Philosophy skincare is working miracles with my skin. The redness will probably always be there but at least the texture is improving bit by bit.

Next week, I will have another FOTD for you from today. Meeting with my writer's group today. I also have received this month's Birchbox. Still awaiting the Beautybox 5 and Boxycharm. So far, I have avoided any spoilers this month. Hopefully, I can hold out until those boxes arrive.

Oh, and I also believe I have resolved my internet issues - finally. A big part of the problem was a 40-year-old modem. Once that was replaced along with a new router and wi-fi extender and we got a speed upgrade from our internet provider, I can now watch HD content with little to no interruptions. In fact, the only interruption I've had since installing all the newness is when Netflix went down last night, which was on Netflix's end and not mine for a change.

I am working on organizing posts so that there will be a certain type of post on a regular schedule. For instance, you'll notice that the title of this post is FOTD Friday. There will also be posts on Mondays and Wednesdays, which will showcase either a recently received beauty box or manicure or polish swatches - once I can polish again, which looks to be very soon. Just in time for the Holidays.

And bonus posts on the weekend when I have an extra FOTD or manicure or something else I want to share.

I think this schedule will be manageable once my business writing course begins next week. At least, I hope so.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned.
