Reviewed: October Beauty Box 5

Happy Monday!

Today I have the last beauty box for October to share. It's the Beauty Box 5 and it is a pretty good one.

The theme for the month is Think Pink! (exclamation point theirs, not mine), so everything in the box is pink.

The card is kind of cute, too.

And of course, on the back the card contains descriptions of the products in the box along with how much each would cost if purchased separately.

Starting with the most expensive item in the box - a kabuki brush from Ferro Cosmetics.

The base of the brush has embedded rhinestones. The tips of the bristles are a hot pink and the bristles are very dense, soft and pliable. Not that big around so I'm not sure how I'll use it. They recommend using it to buff on mineral foundation, powders, blushes and bronzers.

This is a full-sized product and would sell for $25.

Next, a makeup cleansing cloth from HappyFace.

This is a less-expensive alternative to the Makeup Eraser that everyone was talking about recently. This one is much smaller - think potholder size. It is very soft to the touch but the edging is kind of rough. It also sheds pretty bad so this will be a "thanks but no thanks" kind of product for me.

It is a full-sized product and would sell for $3.99.

They also included a pair of hair ties in pink from a brand called Knotty.

I've never used hair ties like these before so I'm assuming I would use them the same as I would scrunchies or other ponytail holders. They do go on just like any other ponytail holder and feel pretty comfortable on. I didn't experience the same kind of pulling I can sometimes get with even scrunchies. Not sure where that knot is supposed to go but it wasn't hard to get the holder shifted around so that the knot was beneath my ponytail.

Another full-sized product that would sell for $4.

I also received a mini-sized nail polish from Nubar in the color Pinktober.

The color is a pretty babydoll pink however, the formula kinda sucks. This is three coats and you can see how patchy the coverage is and the drag on this one is horrendous. Perhaps it would work better with a base but I'm thinking this one will be a pain in the butt to put on no matter what.

This is the mini size and would sell for $4.99.

Finally, my favorite product in the box - a lip balm from Styli-Style in the color Flirty Fuchsia.

eeek! vampire incisors!

This is a brand I've never heard of, but I really like this product. It is nicely pigmented with a bit of shimmer. It feels good on and looks good alone or over lipstick.

This full-sized product would sell for $4.99 so it's also very affordable, as are all of the products they offer. If this lip balm is any indication, the quality of their products should be pretty good. I signed up for their email rewards program and will get 25% off my first order. Can't wait to go shopping - might get a few more of these lip balms.

The total value of this box is $42.97. Considering the monthly cost of $12, it is a pretty good value even if you sometimes get things you won't use. The brush in this box more than made up the monthly cost. If you would like to get your own Beauty Box 5 subscription, you can go here to sign up.

As we're headed into holiday time (can you believe it's here already?), I'm hoping to see some more holiday related items in my monthly boxes. I have ordered the limited edition holiday box from Glossybox. Can't wait to see what's in there. Also, I've signed up for the Play Beautifully box from ELF and from what I understand, they do a special holiday edition as well. I've already received one of those and there were quite a few duplicates in there from what I already own. Guess I'll have to resist shopping while I'm getting the box - well, bag since it all comes in a nice sized drawstring bag.

That's all for today. Thanks for reading and stay tuned.
