I'm back to let you know that....I am weak. Yes, in spite of having already placed 3 previous orders with ELF, because they decided to do another 50% off sitewide today, I placed yet another order. I also took advantage of a 30% limited time discount on Philosophy to replenish a couple of things and try something new. Had I been paying closer attention to my email last night, I could have gotten 40%.
And then I went out - on Black Friday. Not something I thought I'd ever do again but I did stick to very local and definitely no mall excursions. Probably won't visit a mall - or Walmart - anytime during the next month. I am crazy, but I'm not that crazy. I did, however, hit up Walgreens, CVS and Kroger - only got food at Kroger, though.
I will have more on the handful of things I got, but I'm so excited about two things I found at Walgreens that I just had to let you all in on it.
You know how at holiday time, you see all of these off-brand type palettes and such? Walgreens has theirs out and I did take a quick look. Saw these for $3 each and decided to take a chance.
I have never heard of Giordano Colors before but I did find their website here. Don't see any way of purchasing from them directly, though. From what I did see, it looks like they are strictly wholesale to places like Walgreens and CVS. Based out of Miami, they offer quite a number of products and if these two are any indication, the quality of their products is beyond excellent.
First of all, the color choices in both palettes are out of this world.
I really like that they've included plenty of color options in each and not just the same colors with only different finishes - especially the Natural palette with those plum and pink shades.
Now, when something like this costs only $3, you don't really expect much - unless it's from ELF. These shadows shocked me when I swatched them. I think my mouth even dropped open with the first dip of my finger.
You hear descriptions like "buttery" with some of the higher-end shadows and these are what I'm assuming would be considered "buttery". Some of these are very nearly creamy in consistency. All but two of these swatches are a single swipe. Only the gray and the sort of dark plum out of the Smokey palette had to be gone over a second time.
Have I mentioned that I was shocked? Buttery, creamy, not at all powdery, maybe a little too buttery (is that possible?), all of this for $3. If there were more options, I'd be making a trip back to Walgreens - today, probably.
If you have a Walgreens in your area, definitely go check these out. I cannot wait to use them. So many ideas and only two eyes to work with.
Thanks for reading and stay tuned.
