Reviewed: December Boxycharm

And we're back.

Happy Monday! And to those who observe, Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!

So, here we are, halfway through January and I still have one December box to share - from Boxycharm.

All full sized products this month. Pretty good box even if there are three things here I know I will not be using - possibly 4. But let's take a look at everything first. I'll just take them in the order they appear on the card.

Starting with one of things I probably will have no use for - some blotting papers from Tatcha.

With my skin so dry, I have never had a need for something like this. The packaging does say they are suitable for all skin types, however. Still. Dry skin equals very little oil. These will get passed on to someone who might be able to use them. They retail for $12 for 30 sheets.

Next, a highlighter from Jelly Pong Pong.

First of all, can we just chat about that name for a moment? I love it. It is so fun and cute. I visited the website to see what more I could find out. There are a variety of products available for eyes, lips and face. Cruelty free and made without the ingredients we prefer to avoid like parabens and mineral oil and made with lovely things like orange blossom and gardenia flower. This particular product is oil free and contains jasmine extract.

As you can see by the pics, this highlighter is very shimmery. A little will probably go a long way and since the tube is huge, this one will last me a very long time. Retail price on this is $15.95.

Next, a facial mask from Mullein & Sparrow.

And I just figured out how to do a side by side with the pics. Even if I have no clue how I did it.

Anyway, this is one of those masks that come in powder form. Mix it with the right amount of water and you have a facial mask. Trouble is, I tend to either use too much water or too little. However, this mask has such beneficial ingredients, I am going to have give it a try at least once. With 4 different types of clay - kaolin, rhassoul, sea and bentonite as well as rose powder, aloe vera and lavender essential oil, I'm looking forward to seeing what this does for my skin. This is the mini version and sells for $15.

For the hair, Nelson J Argan Oil 7 Moisture Healing Mask.

The scent of this basically hit me in the face the moment I opened the box. I love coconut scented hair products. I have not used this yet but from what I gather, this is a good one. Many people were so excited to see this in the box. I will definitely have to use it the next time I wash my hair. It can be used after shampoo and left on for a minute or for a deeper repair, sit under a dryer for 5 minutes. Other instructions for protecting hair from salt and chlorine or using as a pre-treatment are included on the bottle. Retail on this is $23 - wow. Well, this a Beverly Hills brand so...guess it makes sense.

Now for the other 2 products I will not be using out of this box. Both makeup items, both for the lips and it really is too bad they aren't my color because they go together so perfectly.

A liquid lipstick from Ofra in the color Americano...

...and a gel lip liner from Bellapierre in the color Cinnamon.

A perfect match.

Just too dark and brown for me. Although, I might get away with putting a pink gloss over but that kind of defeats the purpose of wearing a liquid lipstick for the matte quality. I'll play around with it and see if I can't make it work somehow. Retail for the lipstick is $19.90 and retail for the liner is $17.99.

All told, this box is worth $131.02, making Boxycharm the clear winner for December. No real surprise there. So far, Boxycharm has consistently blown me away every single month. Definitely a keeper. If you would like to try Boxycharm yourself, and I highly recommend that you do, you can go here to sign up. Monthly cost is $21 but you get so much more that it's truly worth the extra cash.

And now that we've finished with December's boxes, I'll be on to the boxes for this month. Have them all at this point and I think I'm going to try to do some daily posts in order to catch up. Might not get them up at 6am like I prefer but I will try.

I've also got some more skin care items to review. If you could see my bathroom counter, you would wonder just how much skincare any one person needs. Let's just say that I'm looking into all my options and narrowing things down. Or at least making the attempt. We shall see what the rest of this month brings.

For now, thanks for reading and stay tuned.
