Nails: Sparkly and Purple

Happy Friday!

Sorry I've been MIA this week. As you may or may not know, I had a new crown seated a couple of weeks ago and my mouth is still trying to recover. Been having some pain, which can get bad enough to trigger a migraine as well as keep me from sleeping, which it did earlier in the week. But after regular ibuprofen, I'm doing much better.

I did do my nails this week, however. The inspiration for this nail look came from watching Fuller House on Netflix. In case you've been completely out of the loop, Netflix did a reboot of Full House and I am loving the new show. Don't think I've laughed out loud like that at a TV show in forever. It's really cute so if you have Netflix and haven't seen it yet, give it a shot.

Anyway, in one of the episodes, DJ had on this sparkly purple nail polish and I decided to copy the look. We all know how much I love my purple so this was perfect for me.

I dug through the stash and pulled out Wet N Wild's Buffy the Violet Slayer. For the sparkly topper, I chose a new to me brand, Nonie Creme Colour Prevails, in the color Mr. Wrong.

And since I completely forgot to get a picture of Buffy by herself at the time, I did a quick and dirty swatch for you on my shorter, newly squared off nails.

Buffy is a deep purple cream with a pink shimmer - I'm amazed I actually managed to capture that here. This is two coats. While Buffy is very pretty by herself, I wanted to duplicate that sparkle I saw on DJ's nails.

Enter Mr. Wrong.

And let me just say, the cap on this polish is a real pain to use. But I managed.

Now, Mr. Wrong made Buffy a little more blue - ain't that just like a Mr. wrong? But I still loved the result. Just wish you could see how sparkly this mani turned out. Although, I did forget to cap the tips and by morning, the polish had shrunk so that it looked like I had tip wear in less than 12 hours. Then I completely scraped polish off the corner of that thumbnail while fiddling with earphones later in the day so I had to say bye-bye to Buffy and Mr. Wrong that night. Sad but true. Loved it while it lasted, though.

And speaking of nail polish, I went on a first buying spree in a long while. I hit up Walgreens and they had some new Sinfuls so there wasn't really a choice, right?

I found some new mattes - five of them, anyway. Don't know if there's more but this is all I found.

l to r: We're All Matte Here, She's Gone Matte, Cheshire China, Glazy Sunday, Mad Matter

The label says these are limited editions but I have no idea when they were released. I'll be swatching these over the weekend so look for that post on Monday.

I also picked up four random colors - one of which I have since discovered is a hard to find.

l to r: Gold N' Roses, Cherry Blossom, Mist-erious, Prosecco

Prosecco is the HTF one. I didn't know that at the time. I only saw a few pics of it recently and decided I needed it in my life. However, the number on the bottom is completely different from what was originally released so I'm not sure if this is the exact one or not. It sure looks like it is, though. Swatches of all four of these to come, as well.

I have not forgotten that I still have some February subscription boxes to share plus an extra box from Allure. A complete surprise, that one. And very, very appreciated.

I have also purchased one of those sonic facial cleansing brushes - no, not a Clairsonic. This one is Ulta's version.

It's under $60 and seems to have the same features as one of the MIA brushes. Came with three heads, which can be replaced much more cheaply, too. You'll see a post on this once I've had a chance to give it a good trial run.

Along with the brush, I got this cute little makeup bag full of Ulta goodies as a free gift with purchase.

I'll be sharing this as well.

And finally, I've already seen something coming in this month's Boxycharm and I am beyond excited. I'll just say this: Makeup Geek Shadows. Apparently we are getting one matte and one duo-chrome shadow in our boxes this month. I've heard a lot about these shadows and how good they are so I'm really happy I'll get a chance to try them out.

All that plus a few hauls that I have yet to share. All of which means this tooth needs to settle down and let me work, for cryin' out loud!

Thanks for reading and stay tuned.

Penny
