Reviewed: March Birchbox

Happy Thursday!

Today I'll be sharing my March Birchbox.

This is the curated box, not the regular box. As it happens, it looks like the regular box might have been the better choice. Well, maybe not for me. Be that as it may, there are at least a few things here that I'm happy to try.

Like an eyeshadow trio from Smashbox.

This is the Photo Op Eye Shadow Trio in the color Filter. I have heard that Smashbox shadows are good and these three definitely prove that out.

The full size is .09 ounces and sells for $28. The sample I received is .04 ounces and worth around $12.44.

A second makeup item in the box is from a brand called Milk Studios.

This cute little lipstick sample reminds me of the Avon samples my Mom used to have. I always loved playing with them. This is the color C.R.E.A.M.

It's a pinky nude that looks not half bad on me.

At least it doesn't make me look dead. It has a demi-matte finish that doesn't dry my lips out. A full size is .10 ounces and sells for $22. This little sample is .014 ounces and is worth around $3.08.

I also received a face cream from the brand Kiehl's.

Probably won't use this on my face but it does make a nice hand cream. Very moisturizing, not greasy. I can toss this in my purse and have something to use on the go.

This comes in two sizes - 1.7 ounces for $27.50 and 4.2 ounces for $47.50. This sample is .25 ounces and would be worth around $4.04.

The other skincare product in the box is a pair of eye pads from Wilma Schumann.

As with much of what I get in these boxes, this is a brand I've never heard of. I found local retail sources in CVS stores but these are definitely not drugstore fare. Pricing is more in line with higher mid-range products, these eye pads are somewhat of an exception. Five pair will run you $18. This packet holds a single pair and would sell for $3.60.

There was also a hair product from Parlor by Jeff Chastain, their Smoothing Blowout Spray.

I'm looking forward to trying this. Since I've been wearing my natural curl for such a long time, I have forgotten how to do a self-blowout. Hoping this product will help. It might also help stimulate hair growth, I'm excited to find out. There's castor oil in this stuff and we all know how castor oil can stimulate growth in hair, lashes and brows.

The full size costs $24 for 4.9 ounces but if it does encourage hair growth, it would be worth it. This one ounce sample would sell for around $4.90.

Adding it all up, this box is worth around $24.02. It is over the $10 monthly cost but still not up to par with Ipsy or Boxycharm, the two at the top of my keepers list. If you would like to try your luck with Birchbox, you can go here to sign up.

That's it for now. Thanks for reading and stay tuned.
