December Boxycharm

Hello! Thought I'd share what I got in my December Boxycharm.

Boxycharm is still hitting it out of the park with their boxes. We've gotten palettes just about every month this last half of 2016. All of them really good ones. December is no exception.

When the box came, I noticed it was a bit longer than normal.

I already knew of a couple of things that would be in there so the length made some sense. Then I opened it up.

The theme, as you can see, was "Makeup On Pointe." Lots of bubble wrap in there, too. The reason why? Well...

That is an  eyeshadow palette back there. The Butter London was the other bubble wrapped item. I'll get to them in a bit but first, the one item that I got very excited about....and it's not even a color I would normally wear.

That is a purple metallic liquid lipstick right there. Purple! And from Ofra? Even better. Still, purple in eyeshadow I like, purple in nail polish I like. Purple lipstick? I was feeling a bit skeptical. Then I put it on.

Love, love, love this! Probably wouldn't wear this into work but for a night out with the girls? Yes, oh definitely yes! Now, this is a liquid lipstick and so it does dry down but if I put a lip balm over it, the matte look will stay while my lips will feel a lot better.

This is a full size and retails for $19.90.

And to prep lips for looking awesome under a liquid lipstick, which is definitely a must, Boxycharm included a lip scrub from Beauty For Real.

This is a sugar scrub but the sugar is a bit more fine than some others I have tried. It's chock full of lip loving ingredients and tastes sweet with a hint of cinnamon and orange, which makes sense since two of the ingredients are cinnamon bark oil and orange essential oil. It also contains vanilla essential oil. It doesn't burn or anything with the cinnamon in it. My lips just feel soft and very smooth afterward.

This is half an ounce and that is the full size, believe it or not. It retails for $14.

The nail polish doesn't match exactly the color of the lipstick but it does go with it nicely. From Butter London, this is Ruby Murray.

Sorry. No swatching. My nails are in horrible shape and have just been chipping all over the place. Gotta get back to oiling.

Anyway, this is probably what they would call an ox blood color or what I would call a deep, deep almost blackened magenta. Definitely has a deep purple cast to it even if that's not showing up well on camera. Once my nails are back in shape again, I'll definitely be putting this baby on.

This was also a full size and retails for $15.

For the eyes, Boxycharm included something called a Brilliant Eye Brightener from a brand I've never heard of before, Thrive.

Notice how they've spelled cosmetics? Causmetics. I looked up their website. Their tagline is "Beauty With A Purpose." For every product purchased, they donate one to a woman in need. There's a lot more to their story, which you can read for yourself here.

I love that they do that and will definitely be looking into purchasing a few things.

As for the item I received, this is an eye brightener meant for use in the inner or on the outer corner of the eye as well as above and/or below the brow. The color is just gorgeous.

Camera/lighting is not doing it justice right there. The swatch, on the other hand, is all kinds of glowy.

I can see also using this to highlight some cheekbones for an evening out. There's even a little sharpener on the end to get that really precise point necessary for highlighting that inner corner of the eye.

Ingredients include good things like hydrating macadamia plus meadowfoam oil to help reduce the appearance of fine lines. I know I could use that. It also contains mango seed and sunflower seed oils as well as jojoba oil. It's vegan and cruelty-free, too.

This is also a full size and retails for $24. A little on the high-end side but knowing that spending my money with Thrive will also help beautify someone else's world really makes it a worthwhile purchase.

So what about that eyeshadow palette?

From Pure Cosmetics, the Buff Collection eyeshadow palette.

When I first saw pics of this in a sneak peek, I wasn't at all sure this would stand up to scrutiny. Boy, was I wrong. Just look at these gorgeous colors.

Again, camera and lighting really failing to give this palette its due. Some people are saying this is a dupe for the Naked 3 from Urban Decay. I don't own Naked 3 but based on the pics I'm seeing, could be the people are correct. I could tell you that the pigmentation on these is phenomenal but I think I'll let the swatches speak for themselves.

I mean....seriously! I know I'm drooling over this and I actually own it. Look at the two on the lower right. Not to mention the ones on the top. Even the lighter ones are making a good showing. Now that is some serious pigmentation. Sorry that the two on the left are so blurry. Camera again. But trust me, they are just as pigmented as the rest.

As with the Profusion palettes I shared earlier, these are creamy, not nearly as soft but still soft enough to kick up some powder. Can't wait to play with this one, either. So happy Boxycharm included it in this month's box. Kind of makes me wonder what they have in store for 2017. I will definitely be continuing this subscription.

The palette is, obviously, full size and....are you sitting down? The card says it retails for $50. I found it on Amazon for around $40.

So if you've been following along and doing your own math, you've discovered that the total value of this box is $122.90. The monthly cost for a Boxcharm subcription is $21. If you'd like to join in the fun, just go here and sign up.

And just so we're clear....yeah, I'm probably back. 😘

Blogger has emojis now! Love. It.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned.
