Julep Tali

Happy Saturday!

I have polished more this week than I have in the last two years, I think.  Going to the office five days a week seems to be sufficient motivation.

Today I am showcasing the highlight of the week - Tali from Julep

I took a ton of pictures of this beauty. The one above is just in the lighting on my desk - which has improved somewhat with two new lamps.  As you can see, the holo is phenomenal.  Strong enough to be seen under desk lamps as well as normal office lighting.

I was really surprised at this, to be honest.  Unless a holo is displayed in the sun or under flash photography, the holo part usually hides.  Not with this one.

All by herself, Tali dries down to a matte-ish finish, still with the holo quite strong - and it's just occurred to me that I should have taken a picture of that but didn't. Sorry about that.  Next time.

Adding a top coat not only brings out a lovely shine but seems to deepen the holo - make it more beautiful.

And just to round out the display - here's Tali is with flash...

...and in the sun.

Really threw my camera into fits, this one.  But look at that holo.  Quite distracting.

I didn't use a normal base coat for this mani so it didn't really last all that long.  I only wore this for about 24 hours. Small chips developed over the day and then about a quarter finally peeled off the index of my left hand.  I had put on Julep's Brighter is Better treatment in the hope of fading the blue stain from the polish before this one and decided to put Tali on over it. If you look closely, you can see remnants of staining at the cuticles of the index and middle finger.

From previous experience, though, the combination of their Oxygen Bonding Base Coat and the Oxygen Performance Top Coat really does stand up to the kind of punishment I put manicures through.  That top coat is definitely of the fast drying variety.  After two coats of Brighter is Better and then two coats of Tali, things were a bit on the soft side.  After applying the top coat, however, I could run a nail over my teeth and not see any dents after about 30 minutes.  I did the final coat at around 10:30, was in bed by 11:30 and had no marks whatsoever in the morning.

That's it for this week.  I am taking some time off work with the Memorial holiday and planned to just give my nails some treatment instead of polishing but we'll see what happens.  I have no plans other than to get my hair cut and colored on Wednesday.  Just gonna relax and enjoy not being in the office.

Hope everyone has an awesomely good holiday weekend.  Thanks for reading and stay tuned.
